Be an Angel and Walk for Cancer

Join the masses at 'Angels Walking for Cancer' on Sunday, 29th August at the Johannesburg Zoo. The walk is open to men, women and children (no pets allowed) and walkers are encouraged to come along in their wings in the colour of the cancer they support. The distance is 5km and the entry fee for adults is R80, R40 for children under 15 and no charge for children under 3. The walk starts at 08h00 – registration opens from 06.30.

Angels Walking is in its 3rd year and is a fundraising concept where they walk and raise money for Cancer. Proceeds of funds raised this year will be used to upgrade the Oncology Clinic at the Johannesburg General Hospital. This unit sees approximately 600 patients per week.

After the walk they have various forms of entertainment in the Healthy Living Village ranging from massages, reiki, manicures, card readings, face painting and more. The ‘Cool Catz’ from e.tv will be entertaining the children. Sunflower Fund, CANSA, Bosom Buddies, People Living with Cancer, Campaigning for Cancer, Journey of Hope and Breast Buddies are some of the organisations that will be present to talk to you and tell you what they do.

In the Past: Red Ivory Lodge, me-time event

Octobers me-time event was at the gorgeous Red Ivory Lodge, just 45 minutes from Sandton and Pretoria. The lodge owner Cilla called the day before to advise that we don’t wear make-up as the temperatures were in excess of 35 degrees and any make-up would just melt off!

After an exhilarating bush walk we had a high tea to die for! The chef himself came out of the kitchen walked us through what we were about to eat. Most memorable was his homemade iced tea with wild vanilla and maraschino cherries and lets not forget the champagne truffles.

After all the hard work of eating, most of the ladies jumped in the pool and indulged in the breathtaking views across the dam and Magaliesburg mountains.

In the Past: Landrover Experience in Fourways

WorkHouse staff were invited to spend the morning at Landrover Experience in Fourways to test the new Freelander 2 on and off road!

Each lady had the opportunity to drive the various Freelanders in convoy on a pre-determined route after about an hour’s drive we made our way back to the Landrover Experience and after cocktails and an amazing lunch, we hit the 4 x 4 playground and that is where the real fun started! We were put through our paces of climbing, sliding, wading and tilting all with good doses of mud and water.
